POP TAB PANDEMONIUM - RECYCLE TO HELP FAMILIES
Collecting pop tabs is a wonderful way to teach kids about recycling and philanthropy and it helps families at Ronald McDonald House. School administrators, teachers and students are the lifeblood of this effort and we are so grateful for each of you who have supported this effort in the past and continue to do so! If you have any questions, you can reach out to Erica Carlock at erica@rmhcarkansas.org or 501-374-1956.
For 41 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas has provided a home away from home for families whose child is sent to Little Rock for life-saving medical care. Families from Arkansas and beyond stay here, finding a comfortable suite, meals and snacks, free laundry facilities, lots of play spaces and activities for siblings, and support from other families going through similar situations.
Each pop tab collected is recycled and the funds are used to help families stay close to their children in the hospital. It seems like a small thing, but a lot of the small things added together become a big thing that makes a big impact. One becomes many and many make a difference.

This program helps pay for families and children to stay at the House while their child is receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Your support helps ensure that these families will continue to have a place to rest, relax and recover together.
Drop off pop tabs seven days a week between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. at the Ronald McDonald House located at 1501 W. 10th Street in Little Rock.
Pop Tab Q & A
What does RMHCA do with the pop tabs?
We recycle tabs and the money we receive helps pay for families to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. We do not require our families to pay to stay, so this program alleviates some of the costs associated with housing 32 families each night.
What types of pop tabs are accepted?
With the change in the cost of materials, more manufacturers are using steel tabs, which aren't recyclable as part of this aluminum recycling program. Drink cans almost always have aluminum tabs, but soup, vegetable, pet food, tuna cans might not be aluminum. An easy way to tell is to see if it sticks to a magnet. Unfortunately, if it sticks to a magnet, it's not aluminum and is not accepted.
Why collect just the pop tab and not the whole can?
The pop tab is made out of a more pure form of aluminum making it more valuable. Plus, it's easier and cleaner to store pop tabs compared to the whole can. This is important for the Ronald McDonald House to keep a safe, clean environment for children and families.
How do I get my child's school registered for the contest?
Contact your child's principal and encourage them to register. Registration forms are available above or contact Erica Carlock at 501-374-1956 or email erica@rmhcarkansas.org.
Is it true that pop tab donations go towards chemotherapy or dialysis treatment for children?
No, this is a myth. RMHCA is not aware of any location in Little Rock that collects pop tabs for these types of treatments. Our pop tab donations go towards helping families stay close to their children while they are being treated at the hospital.
